Preschool teachers have a difficult job. Between nap time, finger painting and trips to the potty, they are investing precious time and energy into nurturing, teaching and encouraging preschoolers to develop into respectful and bright little humans.

With blooming trees and sunshine outside providing extra distraction, preschool teachers need an extra dose of encouragement to keep little ones focused and behaving well. Show your child’s preschool teachers that you care about them by sending them a handwritten thank you note.

There are a couple things you may want to mention in your note. For example, list out one or two specific things your child learned at preschool that he or she can’t stop talking about. Maybe it’s a new song with silly hand motions. Maybe it’s facts about the solar system. Mentioning specific things your child is taking away from the curriculum helps your preschool teacher know that what she’s teaching is actually sticking!

Thank your child’s preschool teacher for her warm smile and gentle hugs. Your child’s preschool is another home away from home and your child’s teacher makes it feel that way. Thank your child’s preschool teacher for showing up, loving well and showing compassion to your child when you can’t physically be there. Isn’t this the greatest benefit of preschool?

Also, thank your child’s preschool teacher for her creativity in trying new games and art projects. Many preschool teachers spend countless hours on the Internet looking up new and fun activities to keep your child’s brain active and learning. When your child excitedly runs up to you with another beaded or glittery art project, acknowledge the preschool teacher’s time and creativity in making this moment possible.

Finally, thank your child’s preschool teacher for putting up with your child’s temper tantrums, “accidents,” pouty lips and occasional pushes and shoves. Children don’t become angels the moment they step into a classroom and your child’s preschool teacher has probably seen your child at his or her worst. Thank your preschool teacher for being patient, kind and understanding. Being a preschool teacher is hard work and every teacher deserves to know that her work is acknowledged and valued.

Something as simple as a handwritten note from a parent can put an extra bounce in a preschool teacher’s step. Which Kids ‘R’ Kids preschool teacher will you thank today? Contact Kids ‘R’ Kids of Charlotte for the best way to reach each of our excellent teachers.
